Ongoing Programs

How We Serve Our Community

Our congregation is dedicated to assisting in carrying out the religious objective of preaching the good news and promoting public worship through moral and spiritual instruction based on God's Word the Bible.

Members engaged in public Bible education

Public Bible Education

We share the Bible's message with people throughout the Nelson community and surrounding Kootenay region. Through personal conversations, literature distribution, and public witnessing, we help individuals learn what the Bible really teaches.

Our congregation holds regular meetings at the Kingdom Hall that are open to everyone. These Bible-based educational programs are designed to uplift attendees through moral and spiritual instruction grounded in the Scriptures.

Intergenerational Bible learning

Personal Bible Study Program

We offer free, one-on-one Bible study sessions to anyone who is interested. Our trained teachers help individuals of all ages and backgrounds discover the Bible's practical wisdom and its message of hope for the future.

Global Outreach

Disaster Relief & Volunteer Work

As part of the worldwide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, our congregation contributes to a global network of disaster relief and volunteer construction.

When natural disasters strike, Jehovah's Witnesses quickly mobilize to provide practical aid to affected individuals — both within our brotherhood and in the wider community. Relief committees coordinate the distribution of food, water, clothing, and building materials. Skilled volunteers help rebuild homes and Kingdom Halls that have been damaged or destroyed.

In British Columbia, our volunteers have participated in relief efforts following wildfires and flooding. This spirit of mutual support reflects the Bible's counsel to "work what is good toward all." — Galatians 6:10.

Religious Freedom

Defending Freedom of Worship Worldwide

Jehovah's Witnesses are known worldwide for their firm stand on religious freedom. In many countries, they have taken legal cases to the highest courts to defend the right to practice their faith freely. These landmark decisions have benefited not only Jehovah's Witnesses but all citizens by strengthening constitutional protections for freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and freedom of assembly.

Our organization actively monitors and responds to instances of religious persecution around the world. Through legal defense, public advocacy, and media engagement, we work to ensure that people everywhere can worship according to their conscience.

Special Events

Annual Events & Campaigns

🕯️

Memorial of Jesus' Death

Once a year, Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide observe the Memorial of Jesus Christ's death — the most important event on our calendar. This solemn occasion is based on Jesus' command: "Keep doing this in remembrance of me." (Luke 22:19) Everyone is invited.

🎤

Special Public Talk

Periodically, our congregation hosts special public talks — Bible discourses specifically designed for the general public. These address timely topics and provide practical, Bible-based guidance for everyday life challenges.

🏟️

Regional Conventions

Each year, Jehovah's Witnesses gather for three-day regional conventions featuring Bible-based talks, dramas, and interviews. These encouraging and faith-strengthening events are held at convention venues across Canada.

Community Invitation Campaigns

Before major events like the Memorial and our conventions, we conduct community-wide invitation campaigns. Volunteers personally invite residents of Nelson and the surrounding area to attend these special gatherings.
